This article describes how you can establish a connection between the SAP Cloud Connector and SAP BTP.
Key points:

The SAP Cloud Connector is a Java program that is installed within the company network.

Applications from the BTP can establish secure connections to the company network via the SAP Cloud Connector.

The SAP Cloud Connector corresponds to a reverse proxy for SAP BTP.
Using the Cloud Connector, you can create secure connections between SAP BTP, which is available on the Internet, and on-premise systems such as SAP ERP, SAP S/4HANA or fleet managers.
Note: These instructions assume that youhave already installed and commissionedthe Cloud Connector.
In most cases, the SAP Cloud Connector is installed within the company network and serves as the first connection point between the SAP Business Technology Platform (“the Internet”) and the SAP system.
Within SAP BTP, there is the Destination and Connectivity Service to establish a secure connection to internal systems via the Cloud Connector.

The prerequisite for setting up the Cloud Connector is that a subaccount has already been created within SAP BTP. If this has not yet been done, we recommend that you first read the article on setup first.
After logging in to the Cloud Connector, a new sub-account can be added via the interface:

In the dialog for adding the subaccount, the access data of a user who has the role collection “Cloud Connector Administrator” in the corresponding subaccount in SAP BTP must be entered.

The following screenshot shows where to create the corresponding user with the role collection in SAP BTP.

If the connection via this user from the Cloud Connector to SAP BTP is successful, this Cloud Connector is also displayed in SAP BTP.

As soon as the Cloud Connector is visible in the SAP BTP Cockpit with the status “Connected“, the setup is complete. The Cloud Connector is now connected to SAP BTP. The next steps are to connect the Cloud Connector to internal systems and then create destinations for these.
