In our experience, this is precisely the key point. Those who are already familiar with BTP have a clear advantage. For traditional ERP environments, the additional architectural and integration complexities initially involve a learning curve.

AI and Joule are on the LGM roadmap. From our perspective, however, the foundation must be right first: clean processes, stable integrations, and reliable master data. Only then can AI deliver real added value.

What did we learn from our tests?

The biggest challenge was understanding the entire landscape. Complexity arises not so much from individual functions as from the interfaces between ERP, BTP, integration, permissions, master data, the warehouse, and transportation. Our most important insight, therefore, is this: New technology is no substitute for solid project work.

What does the future hold?

We expect SAP LGM to continue expanding its feature set. Therefore, there’s no need for anyone to go live right away. It makes sense to start examining your own processes and potential use cases early on. As more projects go live, the role of LGM will become even clearer.

SAP LGM offers interesting opportunities for companies that want to further develop their SAP logistics landscape with a focus on the cloud. It is not a universal replacement for EWM or TM.
