With Release 2.13 FlexGuide4 places mobile robot automation and the visualization of complex travel paths at the center of attention. Vehicles following curve-based trajectories are now displayed realistically on the map, including their actual vehicle outlines in Traffic Management. In addition, Idle Management automatically guides paused vehicles to parking spots or charging stations, enabling more efficient vehicle operation without manual intervention.
Train of Vehicles receives its own cockpit with this release: a central overview displays all tours, their statuses, and associated transport orders. Tour rows can be consolidated, assigned readable labels, and historized — a solid foundation for future evaluations.
Also new is native MQTT integration: external devices such as sensors or control units can now be connected directly to the FlexGuide4 signal system. At the same time, the dashboard has been extended with two new tile types and equipped with deeper filtering options.
Release 2.13 thus stands for greater vehicle autonomy, more powerful visualization, and a consistent expansion of integration and evaluation capabilities.
New Features
Adapter Configuration
- A test button is available in the configuration of webhook conditions. This allows a specific transport order to be entered and sent through the webhook as a test without triggering actual production processing.
- The suggestion list for EWM conditions has been improved: the ‘Save Default Values’ button is now positioned higher up and is displayed immediately upon changes, so that configurations are not accidentally lost.
Dialogs (Driver UI)
- A new dialog ‘General Warehouse Activity’ enables forklift drivers to start an activity that is documented as a transport order. Up to four configurable fields (e.g., material number, custom fields) can be filled in; mandatory fields and pre-populated values are configurable. Upon proper completion, the transport order changes to ‘Done’; upon unexpected exit from the dialog, it changes to ‘Fault’.
- Long hint texts in dialogs are truncated with ‘…’. Clicking on the truncated text opens a popup with the full content.
- In the ‘Drive Transport Order’ and ‘Drive Transport Order with List’ dialogs, additional fields can now be displayed: manual priority, load carrier type label, and a combined display of load carrier type and label.
- When creating a new dialog, it can already be activated or deactivated directly in the creation popup without having to save the dialog first and then open it again.
Layout Editor
- In the Layout Editor and on the Live Map, vehicle outlines (rectangle with safety clearance) are now displayed depending on the operating mode: In commissioning mode, the outlines of all vehicles are permanently shown so that bounding boxes can be assessed more easily during commissioning. In normal operation, vehicles are displayed as circles and the outline becomes visible only when selected. The Live Map side panel now opens only when a map element is actively selected and closes automatically when clicking on an empty map area.
- In the Layout Editor, right-clicking on overlapping or closely adjacent objects displays all affected elements in a selection menu for targeted selection. This eliminates the need to manually separate elements for individual selection.
- Concurrent layout changes by multiple users are now detected. When saving, the system checks whether another user has made changes in the meantime and displays a corresponding warning with the option to overwrite or discard own changes.
- Trajectories from LIF files (NURBS curves) are now displayed as smooth curves instead of straight edges in the Layout Editor and on the Live Map. Vehicles actually travel along these trajectories, and Traffic Management takes into account the real vehicle bounding boxes along the curves.
- A place (POI) can now be configured to not be used as a handover point for automatic resource changes. This allows precise control over which locations a changeover between resource types takes place.
- Zones in the Layout Editor and Live Map are displayed with revised colors and improved status visualization. Occupancy, blocking, and active state of various zone types are recognizable at a glance through adjusted border and background colors.
- The global search has been completely redesigned: search results are dynamically loaded from the page navigation. The browser’s native search (Ctrl+F) is again fully available.
Mobile Robots / VDA Interface
- Battery management no longer sends mobile robots to the charging station when there are still reserved transport orders for the vehicle. Below the critical threshold, the reservation is released and the vehicle is still directed to charge.
- When the battery level is critically low, a visible warning is displayed on the Live Map in Traffic Management. In test mode, the battery level can be manually reset to 100% on the bot detail page using a new button.
- The load status of a mobile robot (VDA 5050) is displayed in the detail view of the Live Map, regardless of whether a transport order is currently active.
- When a mobile robot is paused, no new order is assigned to it. Its current node is taken into account for overlap calculations, and the system issues a warning when a paused robot would need to evade.
- Per resource type, it can be configured whether the parameters StationName and OrderId are included in VDA 5050 orders. Both are enabled by default to maintain backward compatibility.
- After manually canceling a transport order via the Live Map, a configurable InstantAction (e.g., lowering a load handling device) can be automatically sent to the vehicle before it travels to the charging or parking station.
- MQTT signals can now be linked directly to FlexGuide signals. A new menu item under ‘External Systems’ allows configuration of incoming and outgoing MQTT topics, including payload field path, data type, and optional inversion. This enables external devices such as sensors or control units to communicate with the FlexGuide signal system via MQTT.
- The MQTT bridge can be configured to forward not only the standard VDA 5050 topics but also any additional topics required for MQTT signals.
- Two separate wait times can be configured for signals: a delay when switching from False to True and one when switching from True to False. This allows signal fluctuations (flickering) to be filtered out in a targeted manner. The inversion and wait time settings have been moved from the OPC-UA signal list to the central signal management.
- For blocked zones, a feedback signal can be configured that is set to True as soon as all nodes of the zone have been successfully blocked and no vehicle is present in the area.
- The status display for charging stations and parking spots has been extended: In addition to ‘Free’, ‘Reserved’ (vehicle on the way) and ‘Occupied’ (vehicle at the station) are now also shown, each with the name of the occupying vehicle.
- OPC-UA communication is now possible via the SAP Cloud Connector, analogous to the existing MQTT implementation.
Order Creation / Chaining
- Quick action buttons can be configured so that the counter takes the entire created transport order chain into account — including follow-up orders created through chaining, logistic routes, and resource changes. Each triggered order receives a unique button ID that is passed on to all follow-up orders.
- A maximum number of active transport orders can be configured for quick action buttons. When the limit is reached, the button becomes inactive and displays visual feedback. It can be configured which status values (Active, Reserved, Assigned, Picked Up) are counted.
- Logistic routes now support wildcard patterns (asterisk logic) in the source and destination location fields. A route with the pattern ‘0010-A-*’ applies to all matching locations without requiring a separate route for each location.
- Cyclic transport order creation receives an active/inactive toggle. Entries no longer need to be deleted when they are temporarily not required.
- Cyclic actions have been built analogously to cyclic transport order creation so that the configuration and operation of both functions are uniform.
SAP EWM Integration
- The SAP EWM integration now confirms and cancels transport orders independently of the current status when the EWM warehouse order has been confirmed. Previously, an EWM confirmation for orders with status ‘Assigned’ or ‘Picked Up’ led to inconsistencies. A corresponding note is displayed in the dialog when a warehouse task has already been confirmed.
- The EWM block storage function now additionally checks for customer individual stock during picking: if the customer of the removed HU does not match the customer in the product warehouse task, the driver receives an error message.
- A new ‘SAP Overview’ page provides an improved overview of all synchronized SAP records with more precise column labels, a refresh button, and cleaned-up filter options. All synchronized SAP records are now historized.
SAP MM Integration
- The filter conditions of the MM adapter have been extended by the material number (MATNR), analogous to the other SAP adapters.
- Transport orders can now be updated collectively as a batch via a new API endpoint instead of one by one, which improves performance and consistency when processing large volumes of material documents.
SAP PP Integration
- Webhook conditions for the PP adapter have been extended with the operators ‘CS’ (List Contains String) and ‘CP’ (Contains Pattern), analogous to WM, EWM, and MM.
System / Administration
- On the detail page of a resource type, changes are only persisted when clicking ‘Save Changes’ instead of immediately upon each individual change. Unsaved changes are indicated by a notice; a confirmation dialog appears when leaving the page.
- Active modules (Train of Vehicles, mobile robots, etc.) on the resource type detail page are automatically expanded when opened, so that the relevant settings are immediately visible.
- In the table export, a warning is displayed when exactly the maximum number of exportable rows has been reached and additional entries may not have been exported.
- When registering a resource at a different starting location, only locations that are accessible for the respective resource according to the route network are accepted. Unreachable transport orders are not assigned after registration.
- All customizing tables have been standardized: navigation links now exclusively lead to the detail view via a ‘Configure’ button at the end of each row.
Train of Vehicles
- A consolidation function can be configured for trains of vehicles: transport orders with the same source location are combined into a single tour row. If field values differ among consolidated orders (e.g., different material numbers), the note ‘Consolidated Information’ is displayed.
- The tour overview now displays a sequential, readable tour label (e.g., ‘Tour RTZ-1’) instead of the internal UUID. Tours are thereby uniquely and clearly identifiable for users.
- Completed tours are saved with status (Planned, Running, Completed) as well as start and end times. This lays the foundation for future evaluations and a Train of Vehicles cockpit.
- A new Train of Vehicles cockpit provides an overview of the current status of all tours, their statuses, and the associated transport orders.
- When parking or setting transport orders within a consolidated tour row (multiple transport orders) to fault, an adapted dialog is displayed that handles all affected orders together.
Transport Order Overview
- The filters displayed in the Transport Order Overview can be individually shown and hidden. The setting is saved locally in the browser; missing or invalid settings result in all filters being displayed.
- Multiple transport orders can now be prioritized simultaneously: the ‘Set Manual Priority’ function is also available when multi-selecting in the Transport Order Overview.
- A new viewer role allows exclusively viewing the Live Map and the Order Overview (including filtering) without any editing capabilities.
- The status colors in the Transport Order Overview now follow a uniform color scheme: Ready (blue), Assigned (teal), Picked Up (yellow), Done (green), Fault (red), Reserved/Pending (purple), Inactive/Blocked/Cancelled (gray).
User Interface
- The dashboard has been extended with two new tile types: An ‘Order History’ tile displays hourly order counts as a bar chart (configurable by KPI type, time period, and filters). A ‘Resource Diagram’ tile displays the ratio of resources with and without an active transport order as a Harvey Ball diagram.
- The KPI transport order tile and the list view tile in the dashboard have been extended with filter options for load carrier type and origin (Internal, WM, EWM, etc.). All multi-select filters offer a select-all/deselect-all option. The list view tile is additionally available in 2×4 format, and columns are configurable.
- The resource count tile in the dashboard now supports a multi-filter on resource type and the additional KPI option ‘Resources online but without transport order’.
- In the dashboard and in the quick-create view, a logout button is available in the top right corner, allowing users to log out directly. This simplifies the process during shift changes.
Bugfixes
Dialogs (Driver UI)
- After an HU exchange between multiple transport orders, the ‘Pick Up’ button was not always displayed after successful validation. The issue has been resolved.
- The parking dialog calculated the activation delay from the creation time of the transport order instead of from the time of parking confirmation by the driver. The issue has been resolved.
Mobile Robots / VDA Interface
- Mobile robots blocked each other when a robot started directly on its pick node: all base nodes were immediately blocked even though the pick process was still running. Additional nodes are now only blocked after the pick process is complete.
- A robot could no longer complete normal transport orders after completing a priority order, because the internal status ‘Has Priority Order’ was not reset and the order was repeatedly restarted. The issue has been resolved.
- Vehicles were not sent to the parking station after completing a charging process because the processing states were not updated during charging. Order assignment after charging was also affected. The issue has been resolved.
Order Creation / Chaining
- Cyclic actions were triggered offset by one hour after a daylight saving time change. The issue has been resolved.
SAP EWM Integration
- The EWM synchronization lost transport orders when more than 100 warehouse tasks were created at the same timestamp, even when a queue filter was active. The issue has been resolved.
Transport Order Overview
- Locations with certain location IDs could not be entered as filter criteria in the Transport Order Overview because the search field was limited to the first 1,000 locations. The limitation has been removed.
